the rest really is up to you.

print on whatever paper you like,

however big you like,

as many times as you like-

plan pieces, practice colour theory, techniques & gradient washes, learn about the pigments in your studio & the brushes you have at hand, keep track of your progress, & reflect on your work.

my painting notes are perfect for watercolour & gouache, my two favourite mediums. but, they’d also be great for oils, acrylics, coloured pencils, pastels, whatever you like!

i wish i’d done it sooner- since starting a painting journal i have honestly learned so much about art theories & my style as an artist. plus, i just love have a cute little reference book & compilation of my journey learning watercolour.

how do i use downloadable artist templates?

once you purchase a journal set from my shop, a pdf file will appear in your inbox within minutes – just in time for you to make a cuppa.

download the file from the email, open it in document viewer app (e.g. ‘preview’) & print on whatever paper you like.

I like printing my art journal notes on cheap mixed media paper – double sided & two pages per sheet, that way I can make a little A5 size book.

what are the benefits of keeping an artist journal?

what kind of artists can use these artist templates?

these templates are perfect for artists with a myriad of creative practices. They’re great for heaps of media- graphite (although the colour mixes pages would be null…), coloured pencils, watercolour, gouache, acrylic, oils, crayons, pens, whatever really – i even use them for ceramic underglazes.
